Fredy grew up with his family on this property, a family dedicated to agriculture, especially maize, beans, and vegetables. In 2012, Fredy inherited a portion of the property from his mother when she passed away and began with 200 coffee plants. Slowly, he kept planting more coffee over the years.
As of 2024, on his 1.46-hectare farm, 95% of the production is destined for sale as specialty coffee, and 5% is used to roast the beans and sell them locally, allowing him to obtain a better price. In this regard, it can be said that Fredy no longer depends on intermediaries to commercialize his coffee. Fredy's gratitude for these commercial relationships is quite evident, as the income he has received from coffee sales has helped improve the drying area and expand his house a bit. He now uses a part of his terrace to install African beds for drying his coffee, allowing him to control the quality and make the most of the sunlight.
